Join us for an evening introduction to the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). FAM tracks a combination of natural body functions to determine when a woman is most fertile. It can be used for avoiding pregnancy, helping to achieve pregnancy, and for tracking gynecological health.

The focus of this talk is on using FAM as a hormone-free, device-free method of natural birth control. The talk will be conducted in an all-gender-friendly safe space and is open to anyone interested in fertility awareness and women’s health.

go boardWestern Mass Go Club – Sundays at 7pm
Owl & Raven is proud to be hosting weekly meetings of the Western Mass Go Club beginning Sunday, October 21st at 7pm.

Go is an ancient Chinese board game of surprising depth and artistry. All players, both new and experienced, are welcome. Club membership is informal and it’s okay to drop by at any time.


Magic the GatheringMagic the Gathering Tournament – Sunday, October 28th from 2pm-5:30pm
Join us at the end of October for another casual Magic the Gathering Tournament. The tournament is open to responsible players of all ages. Players will be given several sealed card packs to make a deck from. All players will get to keep the cards they received for the deck at the end of the tournament! Cards go as far back as 1993, and as recent as the newest set.

Please show up on time, as participation might be limited by the amount of cards and space available.

Tomorrow is Cardboard Day! Owl & Raven is hosting a Community Imaginative Cardboard Art Building Day tomorrow morning for adults, kids, everyone to come make something fun from cardboard! We will gather at Owl & Raven in Northampton, MA at 11 AM on October 6th and make art from cardboard together until 2.

We will supply lots of big cardboard, please bring your ideas and collaboration enthusiasm, and perhaps some masking or duct tape, a cutting tool that is safe for your level of cutting skills, and anything you would like to add to our creation(s)! Some tools and tape will be provided. If you would like to bring small cereal or shoe boxes and cardboard tubes to make features and details or other art supplies, feel free!

All ages are welcome to help plan and build, full family participation is expected! We will be outside right in front of Owl and Raven to the left of the Maplewood Shops, weather permitting. In a skillshare held mid-September, Owl and Raven members and new friends learned what’s edible in the wild in the fall and a couple of things to plant in the garden as it gets cooler.

Some plants, such as Wormwood, have a distinctive scent.

We headed out with a Peterson’s guide to the bikepath to check out the growing habits of grapes and see what else we could identify. It was a great opportunity to talk about only eating what you’re very sure of, where to (and not to)  gather from, and how much to leave behind for foraging animals.

Come join us for a Fall Edibles skillshare on Wednesday, September 12th at 7:00PM. We will discuss how and when to plant garlic and other fall plantings, and discover which edible plants are growing in the fields and woods this time of year!

Programmers and tech enthusiasts of all levels and backgrounds welcome!  Drop by with a laptop, a project (if you have one), and an open, inquisitive mind.  Help a beginner, pick up a new skill, or just enjoy working in the company of others.

Even if you’ve never written a line of code (and aren’t interested in learning), there are many ways you can participate – free and open source projects are always looking for help with documentation, design, translation, and community outreach to name a few.

Hi folks! Lots of exciting transitions happening at Owl and Raven. No skillshares have been scheduled this month, but we’re continuing with our regularly scheduled programming: ear acupuncture, game night, and Wednesday/Saturday open hours.
