Tea and Game Design tomorrow– Sunday

Tea__anyone__by_NinLuvs_SHMPhoto credit: NinLuvs-SHM.

Tomorrow, Sunday, April 7, we will have Tea & Game Design at Owl and Raven! A random assortment of local game designers (aspiring, amateur, novice, and professional), players, and fans will get together to talk about the design, play, and publishing of games. It’s an open event that typically has between 4 and 20 attendees, so join us to become between 5% and 25% of our population!

We will make tea, hang out with people we like, and talk game design from 1:00 to 5:00. Come join in!

Feb 2nd 3D Printing Demo

Join us next Saturday, February 2nd at 12pm, for an Interactive 3D Printing Demonstration and discussion. Justin Leone will guide us through the process of designing in a 3D application, translating an object into printable format, and printing the object in plastic.

Because we won’t have time to design on-the-fly, Justin is accepting submission ideas for simple 3D objects. If you’d like your object printed, you can email your submission to Justin.

Any participants can come for the demonstration and take home a copy of something we make.

Suggested donation of $10 for Owl and Raven and to cover material costs. If you take home an object, you must donate for the cost of materials.

Disclaimers: There are some limitations regarding what can be printed, and how much time we have (large size increases print time, high complexity and detail increase design time, and severe overhangs might make an object difficult to print at all), so depending on attendance, we may not be able to print everyone’s model.

September MTG Tournament

Magic CardsOn Sunday, August 12th at 2:00pm, Owl and Raven will be hosting another casual Magic the Gathering Tournament. The tournament is open to responsible players of all ages, and we welcome both beginners and experts.

Players will be given several sealed card packs to make a deck from. The tournament will run until about 5:30pm. All players will get to keep the cards they received for the deck at the end of the tournament! Cards go as far back as 1993, and as recent as the newest set.

Please show up on time, as participation might be limited by the amount of cards and space available.

Owl and Raven is a donation-funded space. We kindly ask that participants contribute what they can to support our future events.

Community Code-Ins

ComputerSaturday afternoons, 2:00-5:00pm

Programmers and tech enthusiasts of all levels and backgrounds welcome!  Drop by with a laptop, a project (if you have one), and an open, inquisitive mind.  Help a beginner, pick up a new skill, or just enjoy working in the company of others.

Even if you’ve never written a line of code (and aren’t interested in learning), there are many ways you can participate – free and open source projects are always looking for help with documentation, design, translation, and community outreach to name a few.

We’re happy to connect you with something that’s right for you.
